SARKODIE REVEALS STAGGERING COST OF CREATING NOVEMBER 11 TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT VIDEO

Ghana’s most celebrated musician, Sarkodie, has revealed the staggering cost of creating his tour announcement video for his November 11,2022 Jamz album in response to the ongoing controversy surrounding the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) CEO, Afia Asabea Asare’s claims of a Gh¢100,000 expenditure on a 3-minute video documentary about her management.

The multiple award-winning artist disclosed in a tweet, that he shelled out approximately Ghc100,000 for the production of his tour announcement video.

Sarkodie’s tweet read: “Don’t know the details and if there’s evidence that she lied then that’s a problem, but if people are doubting a 3-minute doc could cost that much, then y’all need some education… my tour “announcement” video, not a doc or music video, was close to that amount (of course camera, concept, etc. will play a part) our space (creative industry) is very expensive.

The controversy surrounding GEPA CEO Afia Asabea Asare’s claims centers on the allegation that the authority awarded a sole-source contract to Yaw Pare Photography for the production of a 3-minute video documentary about her management. This contract was said to have cost Gh¢100,000, a sum that raised eyebrows and skepticism among the public.

Sarkodie‘s disclosure sheds light on the high costs involved in producing professional-quality videos within the creative industry. He emphasizes that factors such as camera equipment, creative concepts, and other production elements contribute to the overall expenditure.

The tweet further highlights the need for education and understanding within the creative industry.
