Sarkodie Announces Writing Camp and Label Service Revival to Nurture Ghanaian Talent

Ghanaian rap icon Sarkodie is set to relaunch a full-fledged label service akin to his former Sarkcess Music, announcing plans for a writing camp to discover and develop emerging artists.
In an exclusive October 3, 2025, interview with NY DJ on BTM Afrika, the award-winning rapper and entrepreneur shared his renewed commitment to shaping Ghana’s music scene, despite past challenges in managing signed talent.
Reflecting on his hiatus from running a label, Sarkodie explained the burdens of artist management in Ghana: “When you sign an artist, you’re technically almost responsible for their life… You have to take the blame for everything that happens in their personal life.”
Despite these hurdles, he expressed fulfillment in mentoring talent, citing successes like Strongman and Akwaboah under Sarkcess Music. “I get fulfilled when I see something and bring it to light,” he said.
The new partnership, details of which remain undisclosed, will revive a label model focused on scouting and nurturing stars. Sarkodie revealed he’s already eyeing several prospects but withheld names until contracts are finalized.
To identify authentic talent, he plans to host a writing camp, emphasizing its organic approach: “That’s a nice way for me to spot talents, because then we spend time together so I can know the work ethic, vocal ability, star power and more.” The camp’s date will be announced soon, promising a hands-on process to unearth Ghana’s next music sensations.
This move aligns with Sarkodie’s legacy of elevating the industry, with fans on platforms like X buzzing about potential signees and the camp’s impact. Posts from @PulseGhana and @Hitz1039FM hailed it as a “game-changer” for Ghana’s music ecosystem, building on Sarkcess Music’s track record of fostering talent. As anticipation grows, Sarkodie’s initiative could redefine artist development in Ghana, blending business acumen with creative mentorship.
