Salaga-South MP Sponsors Mock Exams for 1,155 BECE Candidates in East Gonja Municipality

The Member of Parliament for Salaga-South, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has fully sponsored mock examinations for all 1,155 candidates preparing for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in both public and private junior high schools across the East Gonja Municipality.
At a brief presentation ceremony held , the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Kassim Yazid Rabiu, together with the Salaga-South NDC Constituency Chairman, Mr. Haruna Abdul Aziz, officially handed over the examination materials on behalf of the MP to the Municipal Education Directorate for distribution to the various schools ahead of the mock exams.
The total cost of the initiative amounted to GH¢36,072.50, covering:
Printing of question papers
Answer booklets
Objective sheets
Graph sheets
Drawing sheets for Career Technology and Creative Arts and Design subjects
Stipends for teachers who will mark the scripts
In his remarks, Hon. Kassim Yazid Rabiu conveyed the MP’s best wishes to all candidates and urged them to avoid any form of examination malpractice. He reaffirmed the MP’s and the Municipal Assembly’s continued commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to promote access to quality education throughout the municipality.
Receiving the materials on behalf of the Municipal Education Director, Deputy Director in charge of Finance and Administration, Alhaji Ibrahim Tahiru, expressed deep appreciation to Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah for her consistent support for education in the area.
He highlighted several key interventions she has undertaken since assuming office, including:
Provision of school furniture
Renovation of dilapidated school facilities
Support to the Education Directorate
Distribution of mathematical sets to BECE candidates
Provision of meals during examinations
Sponsorship of transportation for students from Kulaw, Makango, and other circuits to Salaga for the BECE annually
The Municipal GES Exams Officer, Mr. Meriga Kassim, assured the MP and the MCE that the mock examinations would be conducted in a transparent, credible, and professional manner to accurately assess candidates’ readiness for the final BECE.
The initiative is designed to boost students’ confidence, expose them to likely examination formats and questions, and provide timely feedback to guide their final preparations.
In a related development, the MP has also provided an additional GH¢30,000 to the Municipal Education Directorate for the procurement of essential office consumables, including printers, A4 sheets, ink cartridges, toners, and fuel to support effective school monitoring and administrative functions.
Other dignitaries present at the ceremony included Mr. Iddi Ibrahim Tahiru (Deputy Director in charge of Planning), Mr. Tanko Yakubu, Mr. Mustapha Tawfic (from the Elections Directorate), and Mr. Jawula Basit (from the Office of the Member of Parliament).
The sponsorship has been widely welcomed by education stakeholders in East Gonja as a significant boost to academic performance and equity in examination preparation, particularly for candidates in underserved and rural circuits.
