Rev. George Owusu-Mensah, Renowned Gospel Musician and Head Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Passes Away

Rev. George Owusu-Mensah, the beloved Head Pastor of Grace Baptist Church at Amakom in Kumasi and renowned gospel musician, has passed away. He died peacefully at dawn on Sunday, with the news confirmed by Rev. Mrs. Mary Fosu, Senior Associate Pastor of the church.

Rev. Owusu-Mensah, known for his powerful faith and musical talent, was the composer of the popular gospel song M’atwen Awurade Anim (“A Wait on God”), which continues to inspire Christians across the world. Through his music, he shared messages of hope, perseverance, and unwavering faith, and his songs remain a source of encouragement for many.

As a gifted composer and performer, Rev. Owusu-Mensah was known for his uplifting lyrics and soulful melodies that touched the hearts of all who heard them. His music played a central role in his ministry, serving as a tool for evangelism, outreach, and spiritual growth within his community.

Rev. Owusu-Mensah was also known for his family connections. He was the elder brother of Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, the Vice-Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and the father of Kofi Owusu Peprah, a fellow gospel musician.
