Queens Crush Egypt 4-0 to Seal WAFCON 2026 Spot; Evelyn Badu Eyes World Cup Top Four

Ghana’s Black Queens delivered a commanding 4-0 victory over Egypt at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, completing a 7-0 aggregate triumph to qualify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. Midfielder Evelyn Badu, pivotal in the rout, vowed the team will target a top-four finish to secure a historic 2027 World Cup berth.

Doris Boaduwaa stole the spotlight with a hat-trick in the 22nd, 45th, and 68th minutes, while Comfort Yeboah added a stunning 55th-minute strike. The win, following a 3-0 first-leg success in Ismailia, ended a brief bonus boycott resolved hours earlier with payments for the 2025 WAFCON bronze.

“I’m super excited. We will make sure we do well to make it into the top four and qualify for the 2027 World Cup,” Badu told 3Sports post-match. Coach Nora Hauptle praised the squad’s resilience: “We are just getting better and better.”

The qualification marks Ghana’s 13th WAFCON appearance, with the tournament expanded to 12 teams. GFA President Kurt Okraku, who mediated the standoff, celebrated: “Our Queens deserve this—on to Morocco!”
