President Mahama Warns Ministers: Arrogance and Disrespect Will Not Be Tolerated

President John Dramani Mahama has delivered a strong message to his newly sworn-in ministers, cautioning against arrogance and disrespect toward Ghanaians. Speaking on January 22, 2025, at the Jubilee House, the President addressed six ministerial appointees, emphasizing the importance of humility, accountability, and public service.

A Call for Modesty and Accountability
“We must exhibit tolerance for their views and work to meet their aspirations. This government will not tolerate arrogance or disrespect for the people who elected us into office,” President Mahama stated. He urged his appointees to adopt modesty and prudence as guiding principles in governance.

The President reminded them that their authority stems from the people and reiterated the need to prioritize the needs and aspirations of Ghanaians. “Ghanaians have declared their intention to demand the highest standards of governance, and we cannot afford to fail them,” he said, referencing his earlier inaugural speech.

Zero Tolerance for Corruption
President Mahama also highlighted the role of transparency and fairness in governance. He warned that anti-corruption institutions would be empowered to investigate and address any wrongdoing. “The people of Ghana will hold us accountable for the trust they have placed in our hands. It cannot be business as usual,” he asserted.
