President Mahama Launches Committee for 2026 World Cup Preparations

President John Mahama has started an 11-member team to plan Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup. The launch happened on Wednesday, November 26.
Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Xoese Dogbe will lead the committee. Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is the deputy leader.
Other members are:
- Sports Minister Kofi Adams
- Youth Development Minister George Opare
- Deputy Tourism and Culture Minister Yusif Jajah
- Deputy Finance Minister Ampem Nyarkoh
- Ghana Football Association (GFA) Chairman Kurt Okraku
- Deputy National Security Coordinator Elizabeth Yankah
- Former player Abedi Pele
- Ministry of Sports Chief Director Wilhelmina Asamoah
One person from the private sector will join later.
Sports Minister Kofi Adams spoke at the event. He said the team will make plans smooth and bring everyone together. This stops scattered work.
The government gave GH₵150 million for the Black Stars. Ghana will know its group opponents on December 5 in Washington, D.C.
