In a massive operation, the Ghana Police Service has arrested 487 individuals linked to a Ponzi scheme in Kumasi, Ashanti Region. The suspects, comprising 257 females and 230 males, were caught at a residence in Adwuman, near Kenyasi, a suburb of Kumasi, on September 2, 2024.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects lured unsuspecting victims from various parts of the country with promises of lucrative returns on investments. The police seized registration documents and other materials bearing QNET logos during the operation.
Twelve individuals have been identified as executives of the scheme and are currently in police custody, assisting with further investigations.
