Police Seize 397 Slabs of Suspected Cannabis After Aboboyaa Crash in Techiman

Police in the Bono East Region have seized 397 slabs of suspected cannabis following a road accident in Techiman that led to the arrest of a rickshaw rider.

The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Robert Tannor, was arrested on Saturday afternoon after the unregistered Motor King tricycle he was riding crashed into a stationary Kia Rhino truck near the Techiman Methodist Park.

According to the Bono East Regional Police Command, officers received a report of the accident at about 2:00 p.m. on March 8 and quickly proceeded to the scene. At the time of the crash, the tricycle was said to be transporting 14 bags of charcoal.

However, a search of the cargo revealed compressed slabs of dried plant material suspected to be cannabis hidden inside the charcoal bags. Police said a total of 397 slabs were retrieved during the inspection.

Tannor sustained severe leg injuries in the accident and was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman, where he is currently receiving treatment under police guard.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Kia Rhino truck involved in the accident fled the scene before police arrived.

Police say efforts are underway to track down the truck driver and have appealed to the public to provide any information that could assist with ongoing investigations.
