Police Issue Statement on Viral Domestic Abuse Video Involving Rosemond Akua Adobea

The Ghana Police Service has issued a statement on a viral domestic abuse video involving Rosemond Akua Adobea, popularly known as Nana Akua.
According to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), on 20 August 2026, the Director-General of the CID received a petition from Rosemond Akua Adobea alleging that her husband had subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a case involving the couple had previously been handled by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.
Following receipt of the petition, the suspect, Harold Norman, was arrested on 27 August 2026 at his residence to assist with investigations. A caution statement was subsequently obtained from him, and on 29 August 2026 he was granted a police enquiry bail with two sureties while investigation continued.
The accused person was due to be put before court today. However, his lawyer notified Police that his client had been admitted at the hospital and was therefore unable to appear before the court as had been scheduled.
Investigators from DOVVSU have visited the said hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation to ensure he is arraigned immediately upon discharge from the hospital.
The Criminal Investigation Department is working with the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection to ensure the provision of social welfare services for the victim and the children.
The Ghana Police Service remains committed to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring that complaints brought before the Service are investigated professionally and fairly.

The statement was signed by Chief Inspector Francis Kwesi Yeboah, Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
