Police in Ashanti South Region have arrested a 30-year-old man, Nana Yaw Dankwa, for shooting and injuring the Dompoasehene during a funeral in Obuasi.
The arrest happened on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Officers heard a gunshot at the event and rushed in. They disarmed Dankwa and found an unregistered single-barrel gun with ammo.
The chief from Adansi Dompoase was taken to hospital and later discharged.
Dankwa is in custody and will go to court soon. Police are still investigating.
Authorities warn people not to bring guns to social events, especially funerals, where fights can start fast.
