Two people have died and another is in critical condition after a motorbike collision at Kasoa Jei River NDC Junction in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.
The accident occurred at dawn when the motorcycle, carrying the rider, a sick woman and her daughter, reportedly collided with a moving passenger vehicle.
The sick woman, believed to be in her late 40s, was reportedly being transported to the hospital by her daughter when the accident occurred.
According to eyewitness Kazabara Sogbe, the Okada rider was speeding in a bid to get to the hospital on time, but lost control and rammed into the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses said residents who heard the impact rushed to the scene and found the three occupants of the motorcycle seriously injured.
The sick woman died at the scene, while the Okada rider was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Her daughter, who also sustained serious injuries, is receiving treatment at the Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital and is reported to be in critical condition.
Speaking about the accident, Kazabara Sogbe expressed concern about what he described as speeding and reckless riding by some Okada operators along the stretch.
He called on the authorities to consider constructing speed ramps along the road to help control speeding and reduce accidents in the area.
