Oboy Siki Marks Birthday by Lying in Coffin Inside Hearse as “Spiritual Purification” Ritual
Ghanaian actor and comedian Oboy Siki has once again sparked widespread reactions online after sharing a viral video of himself lying inside a closed coffin placed in a hearse an act he described as a spiritual exercise to celebrate his birthday.
In the footage circulating widely on social media, Oboy Siki is seen stretched out in the coffin while explaining the unusual ritual to his followers. He said the symbolic act was intended to purify himself spiritually and invoke blessings, particularly financial prosperity, for his loved ones.
“I am celebrating my birthday in a coffin to purify myself and bless my loved ones. I want them to get money and prosper,” he stated in the video.
He went further, issuing a stern warning to anyone who might mock or underestimate him:
“Anybody who jokes with me, if I die today, action will follow the person.”
Oboy Siki also revealed that he had originally planned to remain inside the coffin for three full days as part of the ritual, but changed his mind after what he described as a spiritual instruction:
“I wanted to sleep in the coffin for three days, but the spirit is telling me not to do so,” he added.
The video has divided public opinion, with some viewers describing the act as a powerful demonstration of faith and spiritual discipline, while others have criticised it as bizarre, attention-seeking, or potentially disturbing.
This is not the first time Oboy Siki has made headlines with dramatic or controversial birthday observances. In 2023, he publicly predicted that he would die in 2024 a prophecy that did not come to pass.
The latest stunt has reignited discussions about the boundaries between personal spirituality, public performance, and mental well-being in the entertainment industry. While no official statements have come from religious bodies or mental health organisations at this stage, the video continues to generate intense debate across social media platforms.
