Nyanyano Traditional Leaders Appeal for Security Intervention After Palace Attack

Traditional leaders of Nyanyano have called on state security agencies to urgently restore lasting peace in the community following renewed chieftaincy-related tensions.

The situation escalated dramatically on Sunday, February 1, 2026, when more than 100 individuals attacked the community palace, causing extensive property damage. Swift intervention by the police prevented injuries and brought the situation under control.

Ten suspects have since been arrested and are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Speaking to Citi News on Monday, the Ankobeahene of Nyanyano, Nana Ayi Quaye, appealed to the police to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure both the planners and perpetrators are held fully accountable.

“We were there and heard that people wanted to attack us for reasons we do not know,” Nana Ayi Quaye said.

“They previously tried to take over the palace through the courts, but the court dismissed their claim. Now, they have resorted to using force to achieve their aims.”

The Ankobeahene described the attack as a direct threat to the peace and stability of the area, urging authorities to act decisively to prevent further violence.

The incident highlights ongoing chieftaincy disputes in parts of the Central Region, with traditional leaders calling for stronger security presence and a fair resolution through lawful channels. Police investigations remain active.
