NPP Vows to Reclaim Majority in 2028, Declares “No NDC Seat is Safe”

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has boldly declared its determination to regain political dominance in the 2028 general elections, insisting that no parliamentary seat currently held by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be safe.

Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, made the strong declaration while addressing executives of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) at Parliament House on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

He urged party members, especially the youth wing, to intensify grassroots mobilisation and remain disciplined and loyal, stressing that victory would not come without hard work.

“If elections are held today, NPP will be the majority, but that will also require hard work and loyalty. We do not doubt our minds that you will take up the mantle,” he told the students.

Afenyo-Markin criticised the current NDC administration, accusing it of failing to deliver on several key campaign promises, particularly the proposed 24-hour economy policy. He also pointed to the government’s inability to increase cocoa producer prices and recent hikes in utility tariffs as evidence of underperformance.

He further challenged TESCON members to reject what he described as false narratives that the NPP marginalises certain ethnic groups, insisting that the party remains inclusive and committed to representing all Ghanaians.

At the same event, the Member of Parliament for Akuapim North, Samuel Awuku, reinforced the party’s aggressive posture ahead of 2028.

“We will be joining our colleagues to storm the campuses. The 2028 election is all play, all play, no NDC seat is safe. We will approach every NDC seat like a normal seat,” he declared.

The statements signal an early and combative start to the NPP’s campaign strategy as the party seeks to recover from its 2024 electoral defeat and reclaim its position as the largest party in Parliament.

Both Afenyo-Markin and Awuku emphasised that sustained engagement with the youth and strong grassroots organisation will be central to the NPP’s comeback plan in the next general elections.
