NPC-Ghana Clarifies Misrepresentation in Norway Visa Scandal

Mr. Samson Deen, President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) – Ghana, has vehemently denied involvement in a recent Norway visa scandal that surfaced in the media. Reports had indicated that 11 individuals, purportedly part of a Ghana Paralympic team, absconded during an April competition in Norway without actually participating.

In a statement addressed to GNA Sports, the NPC clarified that the alleged team was not affiliated with them and did not represent Ghana. They emphasized that no application had been made to the Norwegian Embassy for such a delegation, nor had they sponsored any team for international competition in Norway. The NPC expressed dismay over the misinformation circulating in the media and underscored that the individuals involved were unknown to them and were not potential participants in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games preparations.

The NPC-Ghana further highlighted their active involvement in supporting genuine para-athletes through sanctioned international competitions across Africa and Europe, with full endorsement from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. They assured the public of their commitment to assisting security agencies in investigating the matter and reaffirmed their dedication to transparent and honest para-sports development.

The statement also criticized the Norwegian Embassy for issuing visas without due diligence, leading to the unfortunate incident. The NPC-Ghana pledged to continue promoting integrity and confidence in their activities while addressing the implications of the scandal through appropriate channels with national security agencies.
