The Board and Management of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) have announced the passing of Deputy Chief Executive, Dr Dramani Bukari.
The authority said in a short statement that Dr Dramani Bukari’s passing is a great loss to the Authority, the downstream petroleum industry and all who had the privilege to work with him.
“We are deeply saddened by his departure, but we take solace in the knowledge that he has returned to his Maker,” the statement said.
The Board and Management of the NPA extended their heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, colleagues and all those who mourn his passing.
“We pray that the Almighty Allah gives us all strength, comfort, and peace in this difficult time.
“May Allah grant our brother and leader Eternal Rest. Ameen,” the statement said.
Dr Dramani Bukari passed away in London on August 11, 2026, after a short illness.
Some government officials and other members of the ruling National Democratic Congress confirmed the sad news through posts on their social media platforms.
Dr Bukari held an MSc in Energy Economics (Distinction) and a Ph.D. in Sustainable Energy Technologies. Until his appointment to the NPA, he was the Director of Entrepreneurship, Partnerships and Investments at the Ghana Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC).
He had tremendous experience in the energy sector, including energy systems, petroleum pricing and petroleum taxation.
He was also a member of the Governing Board of the Ghana Standards Authority.
