No Will on Record for Daddy Lumba at High Court Registry

The High Court in Accra has confirmed that there is no record of a last will deposited by the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, at the Probate and Administration Division’s registry.

The confirmation came from an official registry search conducted as part of the legal process to manage the estate of the celebrated musician.

The search was requested to determine whether Daddy Lumba had filed a will with the High Court, and if so, the date of deposit, the person who filed it, and the lawyer who prepared the document.

However, the registry’s official response, dated January 19, 2026, at 2:37 p.m., and signed and stamped by the Registrar of the Probate and Administration Division, stated clearly that no such record exists in the court’s registry.

The absence of a recorded will means that, unless a valid will is presented from another source, Daddy Lumba’s estate will likely be administered under Ghana’s Intestate Succession Law (PNDCL 111).

This development adds a new layer of legal considerations for the family and representatives handling the late musician’s affairs, including the distribution of his assets, royalties, properties, and other entitlements.

Daddy Lumba, widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest highlife musicians, passed away leaving behind an enduring musical legacy that continues to inspire generations.

The news has sparked renewed discussions about estate planning among public figures and the importance of properly documenting wills to avoid complications for surviving families.
