NDLEA Arrests Canadian Woman for Importing Synthetic Cannabis, Intercepts ₦9 Billion Opioids at Port Harcourt Ports

Canadian Woman Caught with Synthetic Cannabis at Lagos Airport

In a major breakthrough, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended a 41-year-old Canadian woman, Adrienne Munju, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos for importing a large quantity of synthetic cannabis, known as “Canadian Loud.”

The arrest occurred on October 3, during the inward clearance of passengers arriving on a KLM flight from Canada. Munju was found with 74 parcels of the illicit substance, weighing 35.20 kilograms, concealed in two of her three bags.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, Munju admitted to being recruited online to traffic the drugs and was promised 10,000 Canadian dollars upon successful delivery in Lagos.

In a separate operation, NDLEA officers intercepted 13,298,000 opioid pills and 338,253 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup at Port Harcourt Ports, with an estimated street value of over ₦9 billion.
