NCA Announces Qualified Applicants for 5G Spectrum Licensing Process

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has completed the qualification stage of the Request for Applications for spectrum licences in the 700 MHz, 2.3 GHz and 3 GHz bands.

In a press release issued on September 9, 2026, the Authority stated that of the four applications received by the submission deadline of 5:00 p.m. on August 27, 2026, three applicants have qualified to proceed to the next stage of the selection process.

The assessment comprised the Eligibility Review and Technical Qualification Assessment under Envelope A (Technical and Qualification Submission).

In accordance with Section 3.3.2(4) of the Request for Applications, the NCA published the list of qualified and non-qualified applicants.

The qualified applicants are Scancom Plc (MTN Ghana), Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited (Telecel Ghana) and Gool Telecommunications Ltd.

The non-qualified applicant is Infrava Ltd.

All applicants have been duly informed of the Authority’s determination in respect of their applications, with reasons provided where applicable.

Only the qualified applicants will proceed to Stage 3 of the selection process. Accordingly, the Envelope B submitted by the non-qualified applicant will not be opened.

Qualified applicants will be notified separately of the date, time and venue for the opening and ranking of their Best Price Offers.
