National Security seizes 12 containers of counterfeit US dollars, suspected gold bars

In a significant operation, National Security has seized a large, undisclosed amount of US dollars and Ghana cedis, including counterfeit notes, from twelve 20-foot shipping containers.
The containers, which were tracked to a warehouse in Sapeiman, Ga South Municipality, were the subject of a special operation following a tip-off.
Upon inspection, the hidden currency, primarily consisting of bundles of US dollars, was found concealed inside wooden boxes filled with cement. Further investigation revealed additional boxes in the warehouse, which, when opened, exposed more cash hidden in compartments barricaded with plywood and sealed with charcoal.
The operation has led to a manhunt for four suspects, including a ringleader known only as Alhaji. The search of the warehouse yielded even more disturbing discoveries, including boxes of metals suspected to be gold bars, counterfeit Ghana cedi notes in denominations of ₵50 and ₵100, and fake Ghana Army uniforms and boots.
The seizure of such a large quantity of currency, including counterfeit notes, raises concerns about the potential for money laundering and other illicit activities.
The discovery of fake military uniforms and boots also suggests a possible threat to national security. The authorities are likely to continue investigating the matter to uncover the full extent of the operation and bring those responsible to justice.”
