Nana Ama McBrown Confirms Divorce After 12 Years of Marriage

Renowned Ghanaian actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown has confirmed that she is divorced from her husband of twelve years, Maxwell Mensah, describing the separation as peaceful and mutually agreed.

Speaking on TV3’s New Day with host Cookie Tee, McBrown said the decision was reached with understanding, respect, and maturity, stressing that there is no bitterness between her and her former husband.

“I am truly happy right now. Yes, I have been through a divorce, and I am not ashamed to say it. We did it beautifully. My husband and I are cool, we talk, we meet, I visit my in-laws. There is no bitterness,” she said.

She explained that although both her former husband and in-laws wished for the marriage to continue, she no longer had the emotional strength to stay.

“He is a good man, and I still respect him deeply, but I became tired of the marriage,” McBrown added.

McBrown disclosed that the marriage was contracted under customary law, which required the involvement of both families in the separation process. According to her, this was handled amicably.

The actress noted that the greatest blessing from the union is their daughter, Baby Maxin, whom she described as the most beautiful gift from the marriage.

“I won’t marry again. I can give birth again, but I won’t marry again. I’ve been married for twelve years, and honestly, when you see anyone who has stayed married for that long, applaud them,” she stated.

In recent months, there had been public speculation about challenges in the marriage, including allegations of infidelity. However, McBrown chose not to dwell on controversy, instead emphasizing peace, healing, and gratitude.

Nana Ama McBrown and Maxwell Mensah were married for 12 years and share one daughter, Maxin — a symbol, she says, of love, strength, and the beauty that can remain even after a chapter ends
