NACOC Arrests Suspects, Seizes Illicit Drugs in Budumburam Raid

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has conducted a major operation in Budumburam and surrounding communities in the Central Region, resulting in multiple arrests and the seizure of large quantities of illicit drugs.

The intelligence-led raid, carried out in the early hours of Friday, January 16, 2026, targeted suspected drug dens and distribution points as part of NACOC’s nationwide campaign against drug trafficking and substance abuse.

In a statement issued on January 17, NACOC disclosed that one of those arrested was a 32-year-old woman identified as Rebecca Afia Naa Dei Kotei, popularly known as “Mother.” She is described by community opinion leaders as a key figure in the local drug trade who had previously evaded arrest.

According to the Commission, the suspect is believed to play a central role in coordinating drug distribution networks within Budumburam and its environs, overseeing both supply and retail operations.

During the operation, officers seized suspected cannabis, tramadol, and other controlled substances, as well as items believed to be connected to drug peddling activities.

NACOC said investigations are ongoing and that all suspects arrested will be processed for court in accordance with the law. The Commission also indicated that further operations are planned as it intensifies efforts to clamp down on drug-related crime in the region.
