MTTD Officer Assaulted at Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange While Enforcing Traffic Laws.

A Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) officer was assaulted at the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange in Accra after attempting to stop a driver allegedly using a one-way road.

An eyewitness reported that the officer intercepted a vehicle, registration number M-26-GR 1024, for driving against traffic. Subsequently, a group of individuals confronted the officer, leading to an escalation and an assault at the busy interchange.

 

The incident occurred in a heavily trafficked area, with eyewitnesses stating the officer was enforcing traffic regulations when the confrontation began.

The exact trigger for the group’s reaction and whether any arrests have been made remain unconfirmed. The condition of the assaulted officer has not yet been officially released, and the MTTD has not issued a statement regarding the incident
