Mpox Cases on the Rise: Ghana Records 7 New Infections

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has reported seven new cases of Mpox, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 170 as of July 6. This follows 30 cases reported on June 30, indicating a steady increase in cases over the past week.
Despite the rise, health authorities confirm that the outbreak remains under control, with no new hospitalizations or fatalities recorded. Mpox is a viral illness that spreads through close physical contact with infected individuals, causing symptoms such as fever, body aches, swollen lymph nodes, and a distinctive rash.
Public Health Response
The GHS is reinforcing its public health message, urging Ghanaians to:
Avoid close contact with anyone showing signs of a rash
Wash hands frequently and thoroughly
Seek immediate medical attention at the first sign of symptoms
Stay Vigilant
As the number of cases continues to rise, it’s essential for Ghanaians to stay informed and take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of Mpox. By working together, we can help bring this outbreak under control and protect public health.
