Mobile Money Transactions Hit GH¢447.4 Billion in February 2026

The value of mobile money transactions in Ghana reached GH¢447.4 billion in February 2026, maintaining its position as a dominant force in the country’s digital payment ecosystem.
According to the Bank of Ghana’s Summary of Economic and Financial Data, the February figure represents a marginal increase from GH¢446.2 billion recorded in January 2026. However, it remains below the all-time high of GH¢518.4 billion posted in December 2025.
In terms of transaction volume, mobile money platforms processed 899 million transactions in February, slightly down from 949 million in January and 982 million in December.
The report further shows that the total number of registered mobile money accounts rose to 81.8 million in February, up from 81.2 million the previous month, indicating continued growth in digital financial access across the country.
Active mobile money accounts — those that recorded at least one transaction in the last 90 days — stood at 26.5 million. The number of registered agents increased to 976,000, with 515,000 agents actively facilitating transactions nationwide.
The balance on mobile money float accounts, however, declined to GH¢33.9 billion in February, compared with GH¢35.6 billion in January.
Interoperability transactions, which allow transfers between different mobile money networks, recorded a value of GH¢4.9 billion with 27.2 million transactions processed during the month.
The latest statistics underscore the enduring importance of mobile money as a key driver of financial inclusion and digital payments in Ghana, even as transaction values and volumes show modest fluctuations month-on-month.
Mobile money continues to play a critical role in everyday financial activities for millions of Ghanaians, supporting commerce, remittances, and access to formal financial services.
