Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin Urged to Grill Nominee Okudzeto Ablakwa on Property Ownership
In a bold move, a concerned citizen has written to Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, urging him to thoroughly vet President John Dramani Mahama’s nominee for Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
The nominee, who is also the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has been vocal about his stance against politicians owning properties leased from the government.
However, the writer is calling on Afenyo-Markin to investigate Ablakwa’s own properties and how he acquired them, to determine if they were previously owned by the Government of Ghana.
The writer also highlights Ablakwa’s history of making unsubstantiated allegations against government officials, and his recent role as head of the President’s ORAL team, where he has accused politicians of securing government properties.
The writer commends Afenyo-Markin for his strong leadership in the 9th Parliament and encourages him to stand firm against potential attacks from the Majority side.
Afenyo-Markin, who was recently retained as Minority Leader by the NPP, has been praised for his commitment to holding the government accountable .
As the Appointments Committee prepares to vet Ablakwa, the writer’s request has sparked interest in the nominee’s background and potential conflicts of interest .
