Massive Diamond Bust: Angola’s SIC Confiscates 710 Gems, Nabs 3 Suspects in Lunda-Norte
710 Diamonds, Cash, and Equipment Seized in Lucapa
Angola’s Criminal Investigative Service (SIC) has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against diamond trafficking, seizing 710 diamonds of varying carats in Lucapa, Lunda-Norte province. The operation, conducted on Sunday, resulted in the arrest of three individuals from Guinea Conakry.
According to Graciano Lumanhe, SIC spokesperson in Lunda-Norte, the suspects were found in possession of:
– 710 diamonds
– A diamond weighing scale
– Two calculating machines
– Magnifying glasses
– A sieve
– $860
– 68,000 kwanzas in cash
The evidence has been submitted to the Office of the Public Prosecutor, paving the way for criminal proceedings against the three suspects.
