MASLOC Recovers Three Government Vehicles from NPP’s Chairman Wontumi, Seeks Remaining Two

The Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) has recovered three government vehicles from the home of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
With assistance from National Security operatives, MASLOC acted to reclaim assets amid a broader effort to recover loans and vehicles from defaulters.
MASLOC CEO Abigail Elorm Mensah confirmed the retrieval during an interview on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Wednesday, September 10. “We went to Chairman Wontumi’s house with National Security.
There were five cars; we’ve retrieved three. We’re still pursuing the two remaining ones. He must pay for them,” Mensah stated.
Under MASLOC’s procedures, defaulters must either repay outstanding loans or return the assets. “Once we seize the vehicles, the agreement requires repayment of accrued debts before release,” Mensah explained. She also revealed that several misappropriation cases have been reported to the police to protect public property.
Mensah cited another case involving a relative of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who allegedly refused to return a Nissan Urvan after purchasing a new vehicle. “We seized it despite claims it had been used for work,” she said.
The recovery efforts highlight MASLOC’s push to address loan defaults and safeguard state assets amid ongoing political and economic scrutiny.
