Manhunt Intensifies in Begoro After Guest House Owner Allegedly Murders Girlfriend

Authorities in Begoro are intensifying a widespread search for a prominent local guest house owner, nicknamed “James Bond,” suspected of brutally murdering his girlfriend in a shocking incident that has gripped the Fanteakwa South District.

The victim, a beloved food vendor known as Koryo, was discovered lifeless in a pool of blood, sparking outrage and prompting violent backlash from the community.

The grim discovery unfolded on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, when Koryo, a familiar face at the bustling Ehiamankyene market, visited the suspect at his BJ Tech Guest House in Ehiamankyene and failed to return home. Family members, growing increasingly worried, pieced together that she had likely gone to see her boyfriend.

In a harrowing turn, her younger brother ventured to the guest house, peered through a window, and found his sister sprawled on the floor, her body marred by evident trauma.

He wasted no time alerting their parents, who summoned police from the Begoro station. Officers arrived at the scene late on Thursday, November 13, 2025, to secure the area and transport Koryo’s remains to Begoro Government Hospital for autopsy and further examination. The cause of death remains under investigation, but sources indicate signs of a violent altercation.

Adding layers to the tragedy, Koryo and the suspect shared a child, though their relationship was shrouded in secrecy. Relatives of the victim had long voiced strong disapproval of the liaison, viewing it as unsuitable and urging her to distance herself.

Despite these warnings, the pair maintained their bond away from public scrutiny, a detail that has only deepened the family’s grief.

As news of the slaying spread like wildfire through the close-knit community, fury boiled over into chaos. Enraged youth, demanding swift justice, targeted the suspect’s property in a fit of vigilante retribution.

They set ablaze his Apsonic GY9 motorbike parked outside the guest house and issued threats to torch the entire establishment if the perpetrator wasn’t apprehended immediately. Local security forces intervened to quell the unrest, preventing further escalation.

John Kwame Narh, Deputy Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the Fanteakwa South District, addressed the mounting tensions in a statement to reporters. “The incident is confirmed, and the suspect remains at large,” Narh said. “We urge the public to stay calm and allow the police to conduct their investigations without interference. Any information on his whereabouts should be reported directly to authorities.”

The Eastern Regional Police Command has deployed additional resources to track down the fugitive, described as a well-known figure in Begoro’s hospitality scene.

No arrests have been made in connection with the retaliatory arson, but officials have warned against taking the law into one’s own hands, emphasizing that justice will be served through legal channels.

This case has cast a somber shadow over Begoro, a town already navigating economic pressures and social challenges. Community leaders are calling for enhanced support services for domestic violence victims, highlighting the hidden dangers of concealed relationships.

As the manhunt continues, residents remain on edge, hoping for a resolution that brings closure to Koryo’s grieving family and restores peace to the district.

The investigation is ongoing, with police appealing for tips from the public. Updates will be provided as more details emerge.
