A 44-year-old man, identified as Kweku Charles, has been arrested for allegedly burying his 80-year-old wife in their bedroom for more than two weeks.
The incident came to light after neighbours and members of the community raised concerns over the prolonged absence of the deceased, Esther Bolu, who was the founder and leader of a local church.
According to residents, Madam Bolu had not been seen for over two weeks, prompting suspicion. Further concerns were raised when her husband reportedly took over leadership of the church during her absence.
Upon investigation, authorities allegedly discovered that the deceased had been buried inside the couple’s bedroom. The circumstances surrounding her death and the motive behind the act remain unclear.
Police have since arrested Kweku Charles to assist with investigations. The body has been retrieved for preservation and further examination, while investigations are ongoing.
