Mahama: We’ll airlift 5000 Ghanaian pilgrims to Mecca for Hajj

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the Ghanaian government will airlift 5,000 pilgrims to Mecca for the 2025 Hajj.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Hajj Village on February 28, President Mahama emphasized the importance of meeting the March 13 payment deadline and ensuring all necessary arrangements are in place.

To facilitate a smooth process, a pre-finance arrangement has been made with a local bank to cover deposits for accommodation, transportation, and other essential facilities. President Mahama directed the Hajj Task Force to strictly enforce the 5,000-pilgrim limit, warning against accommodating latecomers.

The government aims to avoid last-minute complications by adhering to the set deadline and pilgrim quota. This move follows the government’s efforts to reduce Hajj fares and increase Ghana’s Hajj quota by 1,000 pilgrims.
