Mahama to Kick Off 2025/26 Ghana Premier League Season with Ceremonial Launch at Accra Sports Stadium

The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season will kick off on Friday, September 12, with a high-profile launch ceremony at the Accra Sports Stadium, where President John Dramani Mahama will perform the ceremonial kick-off.
The event, starting at 5:00 p.m., promises to be a festive affair celebrating the return of top-flight football in Ghana.
Organized by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the ceremony will feature a live performance by award-winning reggae-dancehall artist Stonebwoy, known as the “Torcher,” adding entertainment to the occasion.
GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku and other football officials will join Mahama, symbolizing national unity and support for the sport.9c04307bbf96
Following the launch, the season opener will see Accra Hearts of Oak host newly promoted Hohoe United FC at 7:00 p.m. in the same stadium. Hearts, one of Ghana’s most decorated clubs, aim to start strongly against the debutants, setting the tone for a competitive campaign that runs until May 23/24, 2026.
The GFA has encouraged fans to attend, highlighting the event as a platform to support local talent both on and off the pitch. This season features 18 teams, including defending champions Gold Stars FC, who will face Bechem United in their opener, and an early “Super Clash” between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko on Matchday 5
The launch underscores the league’s growing prominence, with fixtures released in August and broadcast partnerships in place, promising thrilling matches across the country
