Kyeremasu Massive Clean-Up: Community Rallies for Cleaner, Safer Dormaa East

The town of Kyeremasu in Ghana’s Dormaa East District came alive with community spirit as residents joined forces for a massive clean-up exercise aimed at enhancing the township’s cleanliness and hygiene.

The initiative, held in the Bono Region, saw a remarkable turnout, reflecting the community’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental care.

Nana Owusu Amponsah Aduamere, the Kyeremasuhene, commended the participants for their dedication, urging them to maintain the momentum for a cleaner Kyeremasu. “This effort must not be a one-time event; we need to sustain it for the well-being of our community,” he stated during the event. Similarly, Nana Akosua Adoma, the Kyeremasuhemaa, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming participation, emphasizing that collective action is vital for progress. She also drew attention to a pressing safety concern, calling for cement donations to repair dangerous potholes on local roads, which have caused fatal accidents over the years.

Hon. Osei Wusu King, the Dormaa East District Chief Executive, hailed the unity displayed during the clean-up, describing it as a foundation for broader development. “There’s no time for campaigning after elections; we must work together to move our district forward,” he remarked. He also addressed the youth, urging them to respect elders and traditional leaders, including Nananom, to foster harmony and mutual respect within the community.

The clean-up follows a history of similar efforts in Dormaa East, such as the three-day exercise in February 2022, organized by the Environmental Health Department in collaboration with NADMO, Gyenyame, Mansen Unity Association, and Zoomlion Ghana Ltd., which targeted towns including Kyeremasu, Wamfie, and Asuotiano to ensure clean public spaces.

This latest initiative underscores Kyeremasu’s growing commitment to environmental stewardship and community-driven development, setting a model for other towns in the Bono Region. Filed by Agyawusu-Barima of Dormaa FM, Dormaa-Ahenkro
