Speaking on Good Morning Ghana with host Moro Awudu on Wednesday, April 1, Pratt described the timing of the decision as reckless and poorly thought through.
He expressed shock that the GFA waited until so close to the tournament to act, questioning why any concerns about the coach’s performance were not addressed much earlier.
Pratt argued that such a late change severely undermines the team’s preparation. He warned that no incoming coach can fully grasp the squad’s dynamics, individual player conditions, tactical requirements, and emotional/psychological factors in such a short period.
“Coaching involves more than tactics,” he said. “Managers must consider players’ emotional, psychological and social situations when making decisions. Expecting a new coach to quickly understand these complexities is unrealistic and ultimately damaging to the national team.”
The veteran journalist’s comments reflect growing frustration among some football stakeholders over the GFA’s handling of the technical team, especially after Ghana’s recent poor results in friendlies against Austria (5-1 loss) and Germany (2-1 loss).
The GFA is yet to announce a replacement for Otto Addo, leaving the Black Stars without a permanent coach less than three months before the World Cu
