Veteran Highlife musician Kojo Ashakan has joined the debate about whether Daddy Lumba is Ghana’s greatest musician of all time.
In a recent statement, Ashakan, known for his hit song “Cedi Na Egye,” said that while Daddy Lumba’s impact on music is huge, he should be celebrated as the greatest of his own generation, not all of Ghana’s history.
Ashakan explained that every era in Ghana’s music scene has its own standout artists who shape their time.
He believes it’s fairer to honor Lumba for dominating his era rather than ranking him above all other Ghanaian musicians across different periods.
