Koforidua-Nyamekrom Crash: One Dead, Four Injured in Head-On Collision on Eastern Region Road

A tragic head-on collision on the Koforidua-Nyamekrom road in Ghana’s Eastern Region has claimed one life and left four others injured, with victims receiving treatment at the Eastern Regional Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital in Koforidua
The accident involved an Opel Astra B taxi (registration GS 4492-Z) and a Honda Civic (GR 5529-22). Eyewitness Enoch Boahene, Nyamekrom’s Assemblyman who narrowly escaped on his motorcycle near the Jehovah’s Witness Church, blamed the taxi driver’s speeding and improper overtaking.
The Eastern Regional Police are investigating, with no further details on the deceased or injured released. Locals have long decried the road’s poor condition as a safety hazard, contributing to frequent accidents in the area.
