Jordan Ayew Praises Abdul Fatawu Issahaku for Sensational Long-Range Goal in Leicester City’s Win Over Ipswich

Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew has lavished praise on his Leicester City teammate and compatriot Abdul Fatawu Issahaku following the young winger’s extraordinary goal in the Foxes’ 3-1 victory over Ipswich Town in the English Championship on December 13.
Issahaku produced a moment of pure brilliance just before halftime, spotting Ipswich goalkeeper Christian Walton off his line and unleashing a perfectly weighted left-footed lob from approximately 65 yards — inside his own half — that sailed into the net. The strike, widely hailed as a Goal of the Season contender and even Puskás Award-worthy, has been recorded as the longest-range goal in Championship history since Opta began tracking data.
Speaking post-match, Ayew commended Issahaku’s confidence and persistence: “Today, he [Issahaku] was rewarded, fair play to him to keep on trying. He’s a top player and he plays with instinct and scoring a goal like this is wonderful and I am happy for him.”
The goal doubled Leicester’s lead after Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s early opener, with Ayew adding a third shortly after the break. Ipswich pulled one back through Jens Cajuste, but the result stood at 3-1, marking Leicester’s second home win in recent months and lifting them in the standings.
Issahaku, known for attempting such audacious efforts in training and previous games, has now contributed significantly this season with multiple goals and assists. His persistence paid off spectacularly, earning admiration from teammates, manager Marti Cifuentes, and fans alike
The Ghanaian pair’s contributions highlight the growing influence of Black Stars players in the Championship.
