IShowSpeed’s Ghana Tour Cut Short by Time Constraints, Tourism Authority Clarifies Role

American streaming sensation IShowSpeed was unable to visit several planned locations during his highly anticipated Ghana tour on Monday, January 26, 2026, due to tight scheduling and time limitations.

The YouTube star, known for his high-energy live streams and global fanbase of tens of millions, has been on a wider tour of Africa, using his massive platform to showcase culture, landmarks, and youth experiences across the continent. His Ghana stop formed part of this broader cultural exploration.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, the Deputy Chief Executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, revealed that Speed could not make it to a number of notable spots, including:

  • Reggie Rockstone’s Rockz Waakye shop
  • The Despite Automobile Museum
  • Republic Bar and Grill
  • Aburi Botanical Gardens

Abeiku made it clear that the GTA had no hand in planning IShowSpeed’s itinerary.

“What we rather did was to provide visa on arrival for him and his crew, we also helped them to get clearance on their equipment from customs, and then we went to national security and IGP to offer their services to them,” he explained.

He added that although the Authority did not dictate where the streamer should go, Speed’s team reached out for advice on some decisions.

The government also provided a helicopter to facilitate his movement from Akropong-Akuapem back to Accra.

Abeiku dismissed rumours that the GTA arranged the famous jollof rice tasting session where Speed controversially declared Nigeria the winner.

“GTA is not responsible for his plan so I don’t know who cooked the Jollof,” he said.

Highlights of IShowSpeed’s Ghana Visit

Despite the time constraints, Speed managed to pack in several memorable experiences:

  • Visited Asenema Waterfalls
  • Toured the palace at Akropong-Akuapem, where he was given the Ghanaian name Barima Kofi Akuffo
  • Held a supercar session and jollof tasting at Black Star Square in Accra
  • Explored the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park
  • Participated in boxing activities in Bukom
  • Concluded with a visit to Hammamat Montia’s Shea Butter Museum in Accra, where he received a traditional farewell message delivered through ten maidens

The tour, though shortened, generated massive global attention for Ghana’s culture, tourism sites, and youth energy. It also sparked widespread online debate — particularly around the jollof verdict — while showcasing the country’s hospitality and rich heritage to millions of viewers worldwide.
