The Ministry of the Interior and National Security has confirmed reports of a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso that involved a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana.

In a press release issued on Sunday, February 15, 2026, and signed by Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the government described the incident as “disturbing”.

The attack occurred in Titao on Saturday, February 14, 2026, and the truck transporting Ghanaian traders was caught up in the violence.

“The Government of Ghana has received disturbing information from Burkina Faso of a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana, which was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao,” the statement read.

The Ministry has not yet provided details on casualties, injuries or the current status of those on board. It is working with relevant authorities to verify the full circumstances and ensure the safety of any affected Ghanaians.

The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges along border routes and in northern Burkina Faso, where jihadist groups and armed militias continue to carry out attacks on civilians and vehicles.

The government has assured that it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Ghanaian traders and travellers using routes through Burkina Faso have been urged to exercise extreme caution and follow security advisories from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.

Further developments are expected as investigations and diplomatic engagements continue.
