“I’ll Collaborate with TUC to Boost Workers’ Salaries: New Force Movement Founder Makes Promising Assurance”
The Founder of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, says he will partner with the Trades Union Congress (TUC) to push for better working conditions for workers to curb corruption if he is elected President at the December polls.
Nana Bediako, the founder of the New Force Movement, believes that corruption in Africa can be attributed to the fact that most workers do not enjoy better working conditions. He stated that once workers are paid fair salaries and have job security, they will not risk their jobs for bribes.
According to Mr. Bediako, if workers are earning a decent salary that covers their basic needs, they will not want to lose their job for any reason. “Once you start to give value and people know they work for GH¢8,000 or GH¢10,000 that pays their rent, children’s fees, fuel and car, they will never want to lose that GH¢10,000,” he said.
However, he noted that many African workers are struggling to survive on low wages, making them vulnerable to corruption. “Now that workers are earning only GH¢1,000 or GH¢2,000, it is a do-or-die for them and their families,” he said.
Mr. Bediako also emphasized the importance of accountable and responsible leadership in combating corruption. He argued that until Ghanaians demand transparency and accountability from their leaders, corruption will continue to thrive.
In his vision for Ghana, Mr. Bediako highlighted his plans to create an industrial hub that will generate billions of dollars and create well-paying jobs. He also proposed the dredging of the sea from Accra to Kumasi as a means of reducing the country’s reliance on roads and increasing trade.
The proposal has received support from the Secretary-General of the TUC, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, who initially misunderstood the plan but was later enlightened by Mr. Bediako. Dr. Baah believes that the dredging project could revolutionize trade in Ghana by using the country’s river systems to transport goods instead of relying on roads.
Mr. Bediako’s vision for Ghana is centered around promoting economic development and reducing corruption. He believes that by creating jobs and providing value to workers, he can reduce the incentive for corruption and promote a more accountable society.
