Accra Hearts of Oak Managing Director Julius Ben Emunah has resigned from his position less than a year after taking charge of the club as part of its ongoing restructuring.
Emunah, who was appointed on February 2, 2026, to succeed Dr Delali Anku-Adiamah, confirmed his departure in a farewell message on Facebook, describing the decision as a difficult one.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my decision to resign from my position as Managing Director of our dear Accra Hearts of Oak,” he wrote.
Emunah’s Football Administration Background
Before joining the Phobians, Emunah held several senior positions at the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
His previous roles included Head of Competitions, Club Licensing Manager, National Safety and Security Officer and Western Regional Administrator.
During his time at Hearts of Oak, he worked with the club’s leadership as it pursued its restructuring agenda.
In his farewell message, Emunah expressed gratitude to the club’s board, led by HRH Togbe Afede XIV, for the confidence placed in him.
He also thanked the National Chapters Committee (NCC) for its support during his tenure.
‘I Am Not Stepping Away From the Club’
Although he is leaving his executive position, Emunah stressed that his relationship with Hearts of Oak remains strong.
“Although I am stepping down from my role, I am not stepping away from the club. I remain a proud and committed supporter and will always be available to serve, assist, or support the club in whatever capacity I can.”
He said he was leaving with “immense appreciation” and expressed confidence that the club has “a bright future ahead.”
Resignation Comes After Winning Start
Emunah’s resignation comes just days after Hearts of Oak began the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season in impressive fashion, recording a 4-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea.
The Phobians will now turn their attention to their Matchday Two fixture against defending champions Bibiani Gold Stars at DUN’s Park, where they will aim to build on their opening-day victory.
