Heart of Lions Goalkeeper Lawrence Osei Quits Ghana Premier League for Cleaning Job in the USA

Heart of Lions and Black Galaxies goalkeeper Lawrence Osei has quietly left the Ghana Premier League — not for another club or a transfer abroad, but to take up a cleaning job in the United States.
According to reports, Osei was earning GH₵2,700 per month at Heart of Lions. A travel agent convinced him he could make approximately $3,275 (over GH₵50,000) monthly working as a cleaner in the USA.
Without informing his club, teammates, or head coach Bashir Hayford, the goalkeeper packed his bags and left Ghana in pursuit of better financial prospects.
The move highlights the harsh reality many Ghanaian footballers face: low domestic salaries often cannot compete with even basic overseas labour opportunities.
In a country where passion for the game is strong but financial rewards remain limited for most players outside the biggest clubs, survival has become the real priority.
