Hansi Flick Confirms Possible Cancelo Return, Praises Squad Unity Ahead of Cup Clash

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has hinted that João Cancelo could make a brief return to action in the team’s next match, revealing that the full-back may feature for a few minutes.
“It’s possible that Cancelo plays a few minutes tomorrow; that’s what we have in mind,” Flick said.
The German tactician was full of praise for the Portuguese defender, describing him as a top professional and a valuable option for the team.
“João is fantastic—an excellent footballer, very professional, and blessed with great quality. He’s a very good option for us.”
Beyond individual players, Flick emphasized the strong unity within the club, likening Barcelona to a family built on togetherness and shared culture.
“From my very first hours here, I had a very clear feeling: working together. Today, it’s like a family… the players, the staff, the executives, Deco, even the families—we form one big family.”
He added that this sense of unity has translated into a positive dressing-room atmosphere.
“The team is connected, the atmosphere in the dressing room is exceptional. What we’ve built is something special.”
Looking ahead to their upcoming Copa del Rey encounter against Racing Santander, Flick warned that the opposition should not be underestimated.
“Racing Santander is a young team that plays very good football. They are very active. It’s a cup match and we must be ready from the very beginning.”
Flick also expressed confidence in goalkeeper Joan García, praising his performance in the recent dramatic 3–2 win over Real Madrid, despite Barcelona being reduced to ten men.
“With Joan Garcia in goal, I am happy and calm… Playing against Real Madrid with one man down is not easy. We are very satisfied.”
On team selection, Flick confirmed that decisions will be made close to kickoff, with fatigue a factor and Ronald Araújo potentially getting minutes.
“We have 24 hours to decide who will play tomorrow. Araújo is training well and could get some playing time.”
Barcelona fans will now await final squad decisions as the team looks to maintain momentum in cup competition
