Grammy-Winning Reggae Star Gramps Morgan Arrives in Ghana, Installed as Development Chief by Ga Traditional Council

Renowned Jamaican-American reggae artiste Gramps Morgan, a founding member of the legendary group Morgan Heritage, has arrived in Ghana for the first time since the passing of his brother, Peter Morgan.
The three-time Grammy Award winner was warmly received at the airport by the Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, and other dignitaries as he prepares to participate in the Ghana-Jamaica Homecoming Festival, themed “Ghana Meets Jamaica.”
During a special ceremony, the Ga Traditional Council formally installed Gramps Morgan as Nii Oyeeni Mpese I, Development Chief of the Ga State. The honour recognises his significant contributions to music, culture, and his ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between Ghanaian and Jamaican communities.
Speaking at the installation, Gramps Morgan expressed deep gratitude for the warm reception and described the moment as a powerful opportunity to reconnect with his African roots.
He emphasised the importance of the festival in celebrating shared heritage and promoting cultural exchange between the two nations.
The Ghana-Jamaica Homecoming Festival aims to deepen cultural relations, boost tourism, and highlight both historical and contemporary links between Ghana and Jamaica.
Gramps Morgan’s visit is expected to add significant star power to the festival and further promote unity through music and culture.
