GIFEC Engineers Begin Work to Extend Telecom Networks to Underserved Communities in Jomoro Municipality

Engineers and technical experts from the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), under the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, have started on-site work to bring reliable telecommunications services to several hard-to-reach communities in the Jomoro Municipality.
The initiative targets areas that have long struggled with poor or no network coverage. The communities set to benefit include Adusuazo, Ebonloa, Twenen, Old Ankasa, Elonyi, Ellenda, New Kabenlasuazo, Nuba, Mpasem, Jaway and Twearkor II.
In a statement signed by the Municipal Chief Executive, Benedict Boadi, residents were informed of the development and assured that the team is already active on the ground.
“A team of engineers and technical experts from the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), under the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, is currently in the municipality to begin work on communities facing network difficulties, with the aim of connecting them to reliable telecommunications services,” the statement read.
The MCE credited the Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, for making the intervention possible through persistent engagement and advocacy with relevant authorities.
“The Honourable Member of Parliament officially informed the Office of the MCE of this intervention yesterday. The technical team has already commenced work, beginning with Adusuazo, after which the remaining communities will be attended to,” Mr Boadi said.
He gave residents a firm timeline for improvement.
“Residents are assured that by the close of the week, all affected communities are expected to have their network challenges significantly improved or fully resolved,” the statement added.
The assembly expressed deep appreciation to the MP for her dedication to improving communication infrastructure across the municipality.
“The Assembly, on behalf of the affected communities, expresses its sincere appreciation to the Honourable Member of Parliament for her tireless efforts and dedication towards improving communication infrastructure in the municipality,” it said.
Mr Boadi also assured that remaining communities still without any telecommunication network will be addressed in due course as part of the broader effort to bridge the digital divide in the area.
