Ghanaman nkosuo morning show host appiah kubi calls for justice for bibiani old town residents
In a scathing rebuke, Ghanaman Nkɔsoɔ Morning Show host Appiah Kubi, a.k.a. Wassa International, has accused the chieftaincy of Bibiani in the Western North region of Ghana of colluding with a mining company to displace the residents of Bibiani Old Town.
On his morning show program on 7DS GHTV, Appiah Kubi alleged that the chief is entering into an agreement for $5 million with the mining company, which includes releasing the land for resettlement, granting permission to dump waste and debris into the town, and potentially displacing the residents.
The mining company, which has been granted permission to extract gold from the area, has allegedly blocked the main road linking Goaso to Bibiani and constructed a new road that is not up to standard. The company has also been dumping waste in Nana Sekyim Link, a residential area in the middle of the town.
Appiah Kubi criticized the chiefs for prioritizing personal gain over the welfare of their people. He pointed out that instead of ensuring that the mining company builds facilities such as hospitals, schools, and athletics courts for the residents, they are only concerned about their own interests.
The morning show host vowed to fight for justice for the people of Bibiani Old Town, stating that he will do so even if it means giving up his last drop of blood. He challenged the chiefs to come forward and deny his allegations if they are false.
The situation has sparked outrage among residents of Bibiani Old Town, who are calling for action to be taken against the mining company and the chiefs for their alleged complicity. The matter is set to be closely watched in the coming days.
“I have no personal interest in this story. I hate no one. No political party has hired me. We’ve been living on our own land while strangers are leading us,” Appiah Kubi said.
