Ghana Police Nab Nigerian Murder Suspect Hiding in Akyem Wenchi – Set for Extradition

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old Nigerian national, Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, accused of the brutal abduction and murder of a female Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer and her young daughter in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.

The suspect, who had fled across the border to evade capture, was tracked down to a hideout in Akyem Wenchi, Denkyembour District, through a swift intelligence-led operation.

Addressing the media, Eastern South Regional Commander DCOP George Ohene-Boadi Bossman confirmed that a viral video circulating online provided crucial leads that aided the arrest. “The suspect is currently in Police custody as frantic efforts are underway to hand him over to the Nigerian authorities,” he stated.

DCOP Bossman detailed how intelligence pinpointed Fejemirokum to a friend’s residence in Akyem Wenchi, where officers swooped in and apprehended him without incident.

The Commander urged the public to remain vigilant, calling on residents to report any suspicious activities immediately. “We are entreating the public, as a matter of urgency, to inform the police about suspicious movements of any person or group of persons in their communities to help prevent crime,” he emphasized.

He assured Ghanaians of intensified patrols and collaborations with allied security agencies to tackle the rising influx of undocumented immigrants and criminals in mining host communities across the Eastern Region. “We are not going to sit in our comfort zones… We have made several arrests as a result of these intelligence-led operations. We will get them,” DCOP Bossman vowed.

The suspect is expected to be extradited to Nigeria for further investigation and prosecution in the coming days.
