Ghana Police Arrest 23-Year-Old Student for Allegedly Sharing Obscene Videos Online

The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team of the Inspector-General of Police has arrested a 23-year-old student named Nhyira Papa Kojo Egyir Hayford for allegedly publishing obscene material on social media, in violation of Section 280 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
The arrest came after officers spotted a viral intimate video during a routine cyber patrol on Friday, February 14, 2026. The content, which featured multiple women and included recordings made between 2023 and January 26, 2026, had been uploaded to the suspect’s public Snapchat account under the username @biggforddd123.
Authorities promptly invited Hayford to the station for questioning. During interrogation, he reportedly admitted to posting the videos on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. He claimed the material was connected to a TikTok challenge referred to as “Anti Shakira’s.”
Investigators also uncovered that in 2023, the suspect had recorded another intimate video, which he said he sold to an American woman identified as Naya for USD 600, equivalent to about GH¢6,500 at the time.
One of the women appearing in the videos, Portia Ampofo, was invited to assist with the ongoing probe.
After thorough interviews and fact-checking, Hayford was transferred to the Special Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department at police headquarters for deeper scrutiny.
He was released on police enquiry bail late last night, while investigations into the case continue. The Ghana Police Service has emphasized its commitment to cracking down on cyber-related offenses that involve the distribution of explicit content.
