Ghana Freedom Party Mourns Loss of Akua Donkor
The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) is in mourning after the sudden passing of its presidential candidate, Akua Donkor, on Monday at Ridge Hospital.
GFP’s General Secretary, George Afful, and Madam Donkor’s running mate, Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi (Roman Fada), have expressed devastation over her passing.
A book of condolence will be opened at the Accra International Conference Centre on Thursday, October 31, 2024, to honor Madam Donkor’s memory.
Madam Donkor was a trailblazer in Ghanaian politics:
– Founded GFP in 2011
– Contested presidential elections in 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024
– Championed farmers’ and women’s rights
– Promoted Twi language

– Free education from primary to secondary level
– Establishing a free zone at Tema port
– Refining Ghana’s oil resources
– Improved remuneration for farmers
Madam Donkor’s passing leaves a void in the upcoming presidential elections. The GFP will meet to discuss the way forward and inform the electorate and Ghanaians of their next steps.
